Abstract

Now, we want to examine how to use the detailed information available from the flood inundation and road maps, as well as different techniques for reducing the impact for floods to identify what mitigation choices would be the most helpful for improving transportation through the network when a flood event occurs.

Description

Collect detailed information about mitigation options in Johnson County; optimize mitigate options with different objectives/constraints; submit papers to conferences and journals and; extend model to include real time data from public and DOT at state level.

Impacts/Benefits

We believe the results of this work would be useful for groups such as governments and NGOs, as well as private citizens, trying to make decisions during flood events, such as evacuation planning, disaster preparedness, and emergency response.
